The best pecel version in Semarang so far for me. They always get crowded eventhough seats for dine in were not proper just as common street food. Peanut sauce was very thick, a bit spicy, and tasty. It blended well with the pecel vegetables and some additional side dishes. For the vegetables, I prefer complete include the bitter one. Then I used to add sate keong, pillow (bantal) a.k.a martabak, beef, kerupuk gendar, peyek, and bacem sometimes. Mixed together in and could ask for more peanut sauce if needed for free.

I used to eat a Pecel with a white rice. But my mom insist me to try a Pecel with a Gendar, which is new to me. The pecel taste good, but the portion is big for myself. The sauce is not too sweet, it’s savory, and has a little kick of spicy. Every vegetables on the Pecel is new and fresh. I think I almost burst my stomach for being too full. I’m not even ordering any drink. The combination between Gendar and Pecel is confusing for me. I rather eat a Lontong mixed with Pecel than this. The Gendar has a character of salty and chewy, and I personally think it’s the opposite of the Lontong’s character, bland, but has a aromatic of Pandan and a little bit grainy, not too chewy. But again, it’s all about preference.

Another great traditional food in semarang. Salad with peanut sauce and lots of sides choices. I reccomend beef tripe and fried egg. The only open during dinner hour with near gets hotel. Food: 5/5 Price: 5/5 (so cheap) Ambience: 5/5 (very traditional yet comforting) Return: yes

She doesn't have any relation to mbah surip, but sure the pecel above his famous. Long queue, worth to wait. Just order, don't see how she picked the food, eat, full stomach and be happy.

It's another street vendor by the curb, this one is surprising for me as they have so many choices of condiments. The "pecel" refers to peanut sauce mixed with several kind of vegetables, including a bitter taste one. The peanut sauce is a bit sweet. While for protein, this one have lots of choices: quail eggs, snails/keong, chicken eggs (omelette, sunny side up, pindang) tempeh bacem(fermented), tahu bacem, paru(beef lung). Carbs can be rice, gendar(steam rice cake), noodle or even in the condiments like bantal/martabak or in the toppings. Served on a banana leaf lined with paper makes it a traditional Javanese classic with a twist.
